The following are all template pages, which are meant to be cut and pasted, buffet style, for you own City Wiki, or Town Wiki, or Neighbourhood Wiki.
This is just a starting point.
DavisWiki is a city wiki serving about 50,000 people.
Toronto is a city with 44 municipal wards, each having about 50,000 people. Consequently, in a way, one Toronto Wiki needs a template foundation for forty-four DavisWikis.
The template needs of a neighbourhood are different than one for a small to medium sized city. And their needs are different than the needs of a larger sized or geographically dispersed or suburban type of city. What do we mean by "template?" We mean pre-written content that's useful to us all — pages we all share that contain nearly the same content, at least at first.
CityWiki.WikiSpot.org is intended to help people build long term solid foundations for their online city wiki communities. CityWiki is also a place for citywiki builders to talk shop, and with that, templates to the left, and talking shop to the right... comments below.

Why CityWiki.WikiSpot.org ?
-
I needed template pages to kickstart my own city wiki
Toronto -
I kept taking pages from DavisWiki and RocWiki because many of their relevant pages are mature and well worded, so why start from scratch
-
I am helping my brother get the wiki for his own city
Mississauga Wiki and need this pages again -
I have two other cities that want my help in getting their wikis started too, so again, I need these basic pages
What is this wiki for?
-
To create a set of pages specific for new city wikis to cut and paste and customize for their community wiki
-
To make starting city wikis on wikispot a little bit easier
-
Creating a city wiki for places with population in the millions needs a well thought out foundation so learn here to avoid long term errors
-
Hopefully it makes my life easier, and life easier for new city wiki admins
Doesn't wikispot.org already provide this
-
Maybe — see
gnome for some of these resources -
This citywiki.wikispot.org site could simply be a 'template repository' where admins can cut and paste buffet style what they need to get off to a good start with good pages

2007-06-26 17:17:18 The above is only a starting point, I hope to fill out as much of the templates as possible within this week. I invite fellow city wiki admins to jump in and contribute where they can. I'm really doing this for myself and my city wikis, but hopefully doing it in this open fashion ends being that I've helped everyone. Let's see where this goes! —HimySyed
